Directions to Pools
Are you a swimmer visiting from out of town? Please see our information for visitors.
‘Vertical Campus’ building, 24th Street & Lexington Ave, Manhattan
#6, N, or R Train to 23rd Street. Enter on 24th Street and tell the security guard you’re with TNYA. Pool is in the basement.
Please note that swim caps are required for all swimmers using the Baruch facilities.
Bicyclists: There are several bike racks outside the building entrance on 24th Street. BYO lock.
25th Street between 9th and 10th Avenues, Manhattan
#1, A, or E Train to 23rd Street. Walk west to 9th Ave, then north to 25th St.
Bicyclists: There are plenty of bike racks in front of the building.
273 Bowery at Houston Street, Manhattan
B, D, F, or M Trains to Broadway-Lafayette Street (or 6 to Bleecker Street or N or R to Prince Street). Walk east along Houston to Bowery. Walk downstairs and sign in with the front desk marked University Settlement. Pick up a visitor’s pass; the staff will direct you to the pool. Note that you will only get access to the building 15 minutes before the start of practice.
Please note that swim caps are required for all swimmers using the Chinatown Y facilities.
Bicyclists: There are bike racks in front of the building.
Flushing Meadows Athletic Complex, Queens
#7 Train to Willets Point (Shea Stadium). Walk south across the boardwalk towards Corona Park. When you descend the ramp, there will be a bunch of flag-poles; hang a hard left, walking along New York Ave. You’ll have tennis courts on either side of you followed by some golf/minigolf on your right. Turn right on Perimeter Road (aka Flushing Meadows Corona Park Rd), cross over a bridge, and the Aquatics Center will reveal itself on your right.
It’s a brisk 15 minute walk from the station; please factor this in when planning your travel.
450 Grand Concourse, the Bronx
#2, 4 or 5 Train to 149th / Grand Concourse. Walk south less than a block to 450 Grand Concourse. Enter and check in with security. The pool is on the first floor to the back left side of the building. Enter the pool through the back of the locker rooms.
Bicyclists: Be advised that there are no bike racks, but there are plenty of street signs and whatnot to chain your rides to. We’ve had one report of vandalism, though, so choose your lockup wisely.
10th Ave. Between 58th and 59th Streets, Manhattan
#1, A, B, C, or D Train to 59th St/Columbus Circle. Walk west on 58th to 10th Ave. Take the escalator down to the elevator; take the elevator to the basement. Pool is on your left.
Bicyclists: There is an indoor bike rack immediately to the left of the entrance from 10th Avenue. Use the wheelchair door and ask the guard at the desk to buzz you through. BYO lock.
Flatbush and DeKalb Avenues, Brooklyn
#2, 3, 4, or 5 Trains to Nevin St., or the B, Q, or R Train to Dekalb. Use the Flatbush Avenue entrance at the corner of Dekalb. Follow the hall and turn left through the double doors into the gymnasium. Stay straight and exit immediately on the right back outside into the courtyard. Cross to the glass doors on the opposite side. Pass the foyer and turn left down one flight of stairs. The locker rooms are around the corner.
Please note that swim caps are required for all swimmers using the LIU facilities.
Bicyclists: After you walk past the guard gate and before you head into the swim complex, there are bike racks immediately to your left.
Note for LIU Swimmers: You must inform us at least 48 hours before attending your first LIU workout, so we can put you on the security guards’ list. Otherwise, you won’t be able to get into the building. Email us at LIUlist@tnya.org.
